H&R Gray Haulage to create a modern drive through delivery centre to meet delivery demand through the COVID pandemic.
The company was started in 1990 by Robin Gray. The Company began as a farming enterprise North of Stirling and like on many farms a rigid lorry was purchased to take stock to and from market, deliver crops or collect fodder.
H&R Gray Haulage are a well established transport company that still have very close links to their farming roots. They provide a centralised haulage service which covers the central belt of Scotland delivering agricultural goods, round log haulage and palleted goods.
As the Palletline and Pallex member for Stirling and Falkirk they deliver freight throughout the FK and PH postcode areas. This part of the business has grown over the past 5 years and the facility at Bandeath Industrial Estate is no longer fit to handle the volume of deliveries that are now coming into the Stirling area.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic their customers are evolving how and when they order stock. Ordering a number of pallets of goods, rather than full loads. As H&R Gray customers are holding less stock, the demand for next day delivery has become even more pressing.
Planning permission has been passed for a 2,046m2 modern drive through warehouse which will enable all operations to be carried out under cover and also meet new health and safety conditions which have formed due to the current pandemic.
H&R Gray have worked closely with the landlord, Stirling Council to agree planning permission and terms for the construction of the new warehouse on Bandeath Industrial Estate. This has secured jobs and kept the business local and true to its founding roots.
Business Loans Scotland are delighted that the £250K loan is being used to modernise the haulage service, enabling a more efficient workflow and to continue to support the local economy by providing stable employment for the area.
Robin Gray from H&R Gray Haulage said:
“We dealt with Business Loans Scotland approximately 5 years ago on a smaller project, so we had no hesitation on approaching them again for this project. The whole process is quick and very straight forward to complete. It is a far simpler and quicker process than going to a High Street Bank, from application to receiving approval.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Business Loans Scotland to any business wishing to expand and drive their business forward.”
Andrew Dickson, Fund Manager of Business Loans Scotland said:
“I am absolutely delighted that Business Loans Scotland has been able to support H&R Gray Haulage with a £250,000 loan to allow the business to modernise its warehouse and distribution facility. This is a business that has been directly impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic and is an example of the resilience shown by Scottish business in these challenging times. I look forward to seeing the company meet the needs of its customers into 2021 and beyond.”
