Edinburgh Marine Academy Invests in a New Vessel

Maritime training provider invests in a new vessel to bolster its position.

Edinburgh Marine Academy

Established in 2019, The Edinburgh Marine Academy offers RYA and MCA training to leisure and commercial boat users, across Scotland and Europe.

Situated at South Queensferry, the Academy provides courses for those looking to purchase or already have access to a boat that wish to safely navigate in and around and around coastal waters. The academy also provides training for those working in the commercial marine sector by offering bespoke training solutions such as own boat tuition or commercial endorsement training. They are able to deliver all aspects of boat training at their Edinburgh base or at any clients preferred location.

As there are currently very few companies offering the training that the academy provides in Scotland, the purchase of this vessel now gives them a competitive advantage within their commercial sector. BLS are delighted to release the investment of £50,000 to enable the academy to further their services and reach the £105,000 required for the purchase of their new vessel.

Speaking of the loan awarded by BLS, Director of the Edinburgh Marine Academy, Chris Bradby said:

"The new Ribcraft 7.8 ‘Forth Ranger’ gives Edinburgh Marine Academy the capability and confidence to deliver training sessions all year round in a capable and modern vessel.  Forth Ranger is fully equipped with the highest standards of navigation and safety equipment, as well as market leading shock mitigation seating for all passengers and crew to minimise the chances of back injuries in rough conditions.

Taking delivery of Forth Ranger will allow us to pursue different areas of revenue, such as Sea Safaris, commercial marine training, and other related commercial charter activity, and we are grateful for the support received by BLS to help this happen."

Andrew Dickson, Fund Manager of Business Loans Scotland added:

"I am delighted BLS has been able to support Edinburgh Marine Academy with a £50,00 loan to complete the purchase of a new boat which will allow the business to deliver training using their own vessel. As we come out of lockdown, I wish the business continued success in providing marine training courses to commercial and leisure users across the UK."
